Yep folks... you read the title right - Burn the Floor!
I spent my Merdeka celebrations down in Singapore watching this fantabulous dance show... let me tell you the dancers and their footwork were simply AWESOME!!!!!!!! (not to mention those male dancers and their well toned bu***.. oops I meant bodies - how come we don't have those here in Malaysia???)
Aiyoh... that's the problem here lah... all the guys still have that mentality that dancing is soooo old fashion and not "IN". And mind you I'm not judging the guys, it's so obvious in the classes I attend! Yup .. Yup... I get to be the 'she-male' in class dancing with all the females... but of course there are the married couples and the boyfriend-girlfriend couples who come for lessons as well.
I actually help my instructor (Rozalynn) out with her classes for Latin and I do both the male and female sets of steps. I guess for me it's a learning process to understand both sides so at least when I get to dance with a proper male partner I would know what, where, when, why and how the steps and leads fall into place. Just recently we had two male additions to the kiddies Latin class (Whoopie!!) who caught the bug after watching Antonio Banderas whip some 'naughty' kids into pro-dancers in Take the Lead and Channing Tatum's rebel character vs a graceful ballerina in Step Up. Finally guys who wanna be in dance class instead of those who are forced to attend!!!
At the end of the day, it all boils down to interest and the passion for wanting to dance. For me I can sum up dance in one word - LOVE...
For those who enjoy dance, don't miss the chance to watch this spectacular production. You can get more information on the production and their tour locations at : http://www.burnthefloor.com/
